DTRO membrane technology, namely disc-tube reverse osmosis membrane technology, is a patented membrane separation equipment. This technology is specially developed for leachate treatment.

Definition and Principle:
DTRO (Disk Tube Reverse Osmosis) is a disc-tube reverse osmosis device, which is a highly efficient membrane separation water treatment device. Its working principle is based on reverse osmosis. Under pressure, the influent water passes through a semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane. Due to the difference in osmotic pressure on both sides of the membrane, water molecules can pass through the membrane, while the solutes in the water (such as salt ions, organic matter, colloids, etc.) are retained, thereby achieving water purification and solute separation.
The core of the DTRO device is the disc-tube membrane assembly. It consists of multiple disc-shaped membranes, which are installed in a pressure-resistant shell. The influent water flows between the membranes under pressure, the pure water passes through the membranes into the central collection tube, and the concentrated water flows out along the outside of the membrane. This unique structural design enables the DTRO device to withstand higher influent pressure and pollutant concentration.

Main components:
Disc-tube membrane assembly:

This is the key part of the DTRO device. Each disc-tube membrane assembly contains multiple circular membranes, which are connected together by a special sealing structure. The membrane is usually made of high-performance reverse osmosis membrane materials, such as polyamide, which has good chemical stability and desalination performance. There is a certain gap between the membranes for the flow of influent water, and there is a channel for collecting pure water in the center of the membrane. This disc-tube structure makes the effective area of the membrane larger and can effectively prevent the clogging of the membrane, because the flow of influent water between the membranes helps to reduce the deposition of impurities on the membrane surface.

High-pressure pump:
Provide power for the reverse osmosis process. Since DTRO equipment usually needs to treat complex water such as high-concentration wastewater or seawater, a higher pressure is required to overcome the osmotic pressure so that water can pass through the reverse osmosis membrane. The pressure of the high-pressure pump is generally between tens and hundreds of bar, and the specific pressure depends on the nature of the influent and the treatment requirements. For example, when treating highly polluted wastewater such as landfill leachate, a pressure of up to 100-120bar may be required.

Pretreatment system:
In order to protect the DTRO membrane components and extend their service life, a pretreatment system is essential. The pretreatment system may include mechanical filtration (such as sand filtration, precision filtration) to remove large suspended solids, activated carbon adsorption to remove organic matter and residual chlorine, etc. When treating certain special water qualities, pretreatment steps such as chemical precipitation and oxidation-reduction may also be included. For example, for wastewater containing heavy metal ions, chemical precipitation pretreatment can remove most of the heavy metals and reduce their damage to the DTRO membrane.

Cleaning system:
Including chemical cleaning devices and physical cleaning devices. With the operation of the DTRO equipment, dirt will inevitably accumulate on the membrane surface, such as calcium and magnesium scale, organic matter, microorganisms, etc. The chemical cleaning system can regularly inject specific chemical cleaning agents into the membrane components, such as acidic cleaning agents for removing scale and alkaline cleaning agents for removing organic matter. The physical cleaning system may include a flushing pump and a flushing nozzle to remove loose dirt on the membrane surface by high-pressure water flushing.

Control system:
Used to monitor and adjust the operating parameters of the DTRO equipment. It can realize automatic operation, such as automatically controlling parameters such as inlet flow, pressure, temperature, etc., and monitor the operating status of the equipment, including membrane flux, desalination rate, pressure change, etc. When abnormal conditions occur (such as excessive pressure, membrane flux drops too fast, etc.), the control system can promptly issue an alarm and take corresponding protective measures, such as automatically stopping the equipment operation or starting the cleaning program.

Performance characteristics:
High adaptability and anti-pollution ability:

The DTRO equipment has strong adaptability to the inlet water quality and can treat high-concentration wastewater, such as landfill leachate, chemical wastewater, electroplating wastewater, etc. Its disc-tube structure makes the membrane assembly less likely to be blocked when facing high concentrations of suspended solids, organic matter and salt. Even when treating water containing a large amount of complex pollutants such as colloids and microorganisms, it can maintain a relatively stable operating state. For example, in the treatment of landfill leachate, high concentrations of organic matter, heavy metals and microorganisms in the leachate will not easily cause the DTRO membrane to fail.

High desalination rate and separation efficiency:
It can effectively remove salt and various pollutants in water. Its desalination rate can generally reach more than 90% - 98%, and the removal rate of impurities such as organic matter and heavy metals is also high. It performs well in seawater desalination and high-salinity industrial wastewater treatment, and can convert high-salinity water into low-salinity fresh water to meet different water needs.

Flexible operating conditions:
DTRO equipment can operate in a wide range of pressure, temperature and flow. This allows it to be flexibly adjusted according to different influent water quality and treatment requirements. For example, when treating seawater or wastewater with different salinities, the treatment effect can be optimized by adjusting the pressure, and in different seasons or ambient temperatures, stable performance can be maintained through appropriate operation adjustments.

Compact structure and modular design:
The structure of the disc-tube membrane module is relatively compact, and the entire DTRO equipment also has a small footprint. In addition, it adopts a modular design, which can easily increase or decrease the number of membrane modules according to the demand for water treatment. This feature gives DTRO equipment a great advantage in occasions with limited space or projects that need to gradually expand the treatment scale.

Application field:
Leachate treatment:

It is one of the effective technologies for leachate treatment. Garbage leachate contains high concentrations of organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, heavy metals, salt and other pollutants. DTRO equipment can effectively remove these pollutants, treat the leachate to meet the discharge standard or reuse standard, reduce pollution to the environment, and realize the recycling of water resources.

Industrial wastewater treatment:
In the chemical, electroplating, printing and dyeing and other industrial fields, it is used to treat high-salinity and high-concentration organic wastewater. After treatment by DTRO equipment, the wastewater can meet the reuse standard and be used for industrial circulating cooling water, process water, etc., reducing the water cost and wastewater discharge of industrial enterprises.
